Virtual Senior Accountant Jobs for US Clients

The bookkeeping is usually done by the time work reaches you. Your day starts at the trial balance: accruals and prepaids, fixed assets and depreciation, intercompany entries, revenue recognized in the right period. You review what was coded below you, correct what is wrong, and explain why it was wrong. Then come the statements, the variance notes, and the answer to the question behind the owner's question.

VAinUSA hires senior accountants from anywhere in the world. What matters is sound technical judgment and the discipline to support every figure you put in front of a client. This is a work from home role built around your reliability, not your location. There is no fee to apply and never one to be placed, since the US companies doing the hiring cover our side.

You sit between the bookkeeper below you and the owner or CFO above, and you speak regularly with the client's outside CPA firm through tax season. Some weeks a lender or an insurer sends questions your way too. Accountants who become the person leadership calls for judgment, not only output, tend to end up running that client's finance function.

What You'll Do

  • Month and Year End Close: Post accruals, prepaids, and adjusting entries, then close a trial balance you can defend line by line.
  • Statements and Analysis: Build the financial statements, then explain the variances and what is actually driving them.
  • Tax Preparation Support: Assemble workpapers, schedules, and reconciliations for the client's tax firm and answer their follow ups.
  • Compliance and Controls: Keep accounting treatment consistent with US GAAP and flag where a weak process leaves the client exposed.
  • Reviewing the Bookkeeping: Check the coding beneath you and fix entries that would distort the statements before anyone reads them.
  • Advising the Owner: Turn the numbers into a short plain recommendation about cash, margin, hiring, or spending.

What You Get

Weekly Pay + Bonuses

This is the highest range on the site, $5 to $10 / hr paid weekly in USD with bonuses, because judgment at this level is far harder to replace than task work.

A Real US Company

You are the accountant for one business, inside its numbers every week, not a name attached to an outsourced pool of files.

AI-Enabled Tools + Coaching

The client licenses the software, AI flags the anomalies buried in a reconciliation, and your hours go to the judgment calls instead of the hunt.

Room to Grow

Senior accountants here add entities, then budgeting and forecasting, and several have become the client's controller in everything but title.

How to Apply for This Remote Job

1

Send Your Application

Free, and short. Tell us your qualification, the standards you have worked under, and the size of the books you have closed.

2

Interview with Us

This one goes technical. Expect questions on how you treat a disputed accrual, what sits on your close checklist, and how you explain an ugly variance to an owner who is not an accountant.

3

Meet Your Client

A conversation with the owner or CFO about their entities, their tax firm, and the decisions they keep making without good numbers in front of them.

4

Start Advising

You open by reviewing the last closed period and telling them honestly what you found in it, then take the close over from there.

Questions, answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need a CPA to Apply?

A CPA or an equivalent qualification is required here, and there is no softer version of that answer. Clients are handing over statements, tax workpapers, and compliance questions, so they need somebody already credentialed. If you qualified as a chartered accountant outside the US, apply. What we check then is whether your US GAAP knowledge is current and usable.

What Hours Will I Work?

Core US business hours, though you control the shape of your day more than most roles on this site. Deep work fits where you choose to put it. The exception is quarter close and tax season, when the outside firm sets the deadlines and the weeks get long, followed by genuinely quiet stretches once filings are out.

Can I Apply If I'm Not Based in the Philippines?

Location is not a factor in this role. A qualification that holds up and support behind every figure you present are what we assess, and we place accountants who are hired from anywhere in the world. The practical requirements are ordinary: dependable internet, a private workspace, and enough overlap with US hours to reach your client.

How Much Do Remote Senior Accountants Earn?

$5 to $10 / hr, paid weekly in USD, plus bonuses. That is the widest range on the site, and where you sit in it tracks scope. Reviewing a bookkeeper's close sits toward the lower end, while owning multi entity consolidation, the tax package, and advisory work sits at the top. Nothing is a surprise: the rate is settled with you before you say yes to a client.

What Software Will I Be Working In?

Usually QuickBooks Online Accountant or Xero, with Excel or Google Sheets carrying the analytical work, plus whatever the client's tax firm uses for workpapers. Every license is paid by the client. If a company runs something heavier such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct, that is stated up front so you can judge whether it matches your experience.

How Is This Different From a Bookkeeping Job?

The bookkeeper records what happened; you decide whether it was recorded correctly and what it means. Your output is the adjusting entries, the statements, the tax package, and the conversation where an owner asks whether they can afford another hire. It pays more because a wrong call at this level is expensive and slow to unwind.

Is This a Long-Term Placement?

Yes, and more so than most. Knowledge compounds fast in accounting: by your third close you know the entities, the seasonality, and every corner where a client's records go soft. Owners hold on to that. Senior accounting placements are ongoing work from home positions measured in years rather than projects with an end date.

Ready to Be the Accountant a US Owner Trusts?

Applying costs nothing, and you never pay a cent to be placed.
