You take a folder of raw footage and turn it into something a viewer cannot scroll past in the first three seconds.

Virtual Video Editor Jobs for US Clients
The footage lands in a Drive folder overnight: a talking head take, some B roll, maybe an hour of podcast recording. You cut the dead air, find the strongest ten seconds and move them to the front, layer in music that fits the mood without swallowing the voice, burn in captions, and export to whatever aspect ratio each platform wants. Then tomorrow another folder appears.
VAinUSA hires video editors from anywhere in the world; what counts is a feel for pacing and a turnaround the team can count on. This is a work from home role built around your reliability, not your location. A cut either holds attention or it loses it, and that judgment shows up in your portfolio long before anybody asks where you live.
You trade notes mostly with a content lead or the creator who is on camera, sometimes with a social media manager who needs the vertical version by Thursday. Feedback arrives as timestamps, and you learn a brand's taste faster than you expect. Editors who start shaping the story instead of only trimming it get pulled into thumbnails, scripting, and eventually the whole content pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Cut Short Form Clips: Pull the strongest moments out of long footage into vertical clips built to survive the first three seconds.
- Edit Long Form Video: Assemble full episodes and YouTube pieces with clean pacing, chapter marks, and no dead air.
- Caption and Clean the Audio: Burn in readable captions, mix the voice above the music, and strip room noise before export.
- Add Simple Motion Graphics: Drop in lower thirds, callouts, and branded intros that match the look the client already uses.
- Deliver on Schedule: Export the right aspect ratios, name files the way the team expects, and hit the turnaround every time.
- Handle Revision Rounds: Take timestamped notes, turn them around quickly, and keep project files organized enough for anyone to open.

AI Skills for a Video Editor
What You Get
Weekly Pay + Bonuses
Your pay arrives weekly in USD, and clients often add bonuses when a batch of clips performs or a launch video ships early.
A Real US Company
You edit for one US company's content team with a named point of contact, not an anonymous marketplace where you rebid for work every week.
AI-Enabled Tools + Coaching
We coach you on using AI transcription and rough-cut tools to skip the tedious first pass, so your hours go into the parts that need taste.
Room to Grow
Editors who shape story and not only timing move into lead editor work, thumbnails, and a say in what gets filmed next.
How to Apply for This Remote Job
Send Your Application
Send a reel, or two or three finished pieces, ideally including one vertical clip and one longer edit. There is no fee to apply and no course to buy first.
Interview with Us
We watch your work and ask why you made specific cuts: where the hook landed, why the music changed, what you would fix now. The software questions are the easy part.
Meet Your Client
The US team shows you their channel, their style guide, and a recent video they were happy with, then walks you through how footage reaches you and how notes come back.
Start Editing
Most editors begin with one short test clip and a revision round, then move straight onto the regular weekly batch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need Video Editing Experience to Apply?
Yes. This is one of the roles a portfolio decides, because a client is trusting you with footage they can only shoot once. We want to see finished work: a vertical clip, a longer edit, ideally something you cut for a real brand or creator. Being self-taught is completely fine here. Being untested is not.
What Hours Will I Work?
Editing runs on deadlines more than on a clock. You keep overlap with US business hours so notes and approvals do not stall, then build the edit around a daily or next day delivery rhythm. Footage often lands in the evening US time and comes back the following day. Launch weeks compress that, and the team flags them ahead.
Can I Apply From Anywhere?
You can, and where you sit changes nothing about the work. VAinUSA has placed editors hired from anywhere in the world since 2021, and what actually decides this role is a feel for pacing plus a turnaround the team can count on. Nobody watching the finished cut knows which country it was exported from, and no client has ever thought to ask.
How Much Does a Video Editor Earn?
Editing pay here runs $5 to $8 / hr as a market reference, landing weekly in USD, with bonuses on strong clip batches or big launches. Editors who also handle motion graphics and sound design, rather than cuts and captions alone, sit at the upper end. Your exact rate is confirmed with you before you accept any placement.
What Software and Equipment Do I Need?
Clients cover the software licences, usually Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut Pro, along with the stock music and asset accounts. On your side: a computer that can scrub 4K without stalling, stable internet for large downloads, headphones you trust for mixing, and a quiet space to work from home.
How Many Videos Will I Be Editing Each Week?
It varies by client, but a common load is one or two long form pieces plus eight to fifteen short clips cut from that same footage. Repurposing is most of the job. Clients state the weekly volume before you accept the placement, so nobody agrees to a number they cannot hold.
